Junius Wilhelm Opatz Architectural Guide Frankfurt 2000-2009

From today's perspective, we can look back with some admiration on the construction activity of the 2000s – Frankfurt was also able to continue attracting international stars from London, Paris, and Vienna to the Main River during this decade. Together with the buildings by David Chipperfield, Nicholas Grimshaw, Richard Rogers, and Claude Constantini/Michel Regembal, the sixth volume of the Frankfurt Architecture Guide series presents buildings by architects from Frankfurt, Berlin, Freiburg, and Stuttgart. Not only superlatives such as the grandiose Exhibition Hall 3 – who has ever seen it empty? – are shown, but also the debut work of a female architect (who shortly afterwards accepted a position at the University of Oregon). And it is not only the doors of a few private homes that have been opened for this book; insights have also been granted into the closely guarded sketchbooks of an architect. The book also focuses on art in public and private spaces and on the gentle Taunus landscape – because this time Bad Homburg is a “guest from the surrounding area” with one building.
